We are currently looking for an Estimator to support a wide range of precast estimates from start to finish at our Red Deer Plant.  You will organize and oversee Underground Precast Concrete Project Estimates and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

An excellent Estimator must be well-versed in precast methodologies, procedures and able to coordinate with a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills. 

JOB DUTIES: 

  • Prepare and submit estimates as required
  • Oversee the project schedule for each project and ensure it meets plants capacities and customer requirements
  • Work with clients from the start of each project and monitor the entire project scope
  • Collaborate with Production Department to ensure accurate manufacture and material costing
  • Collaborate with sales and production to ensure feasibility of each project
  • Ensure projects are completed within budget and to the satisfaction of the customer
  • Provide accurate budgets/costing to management
  • Process change orders
  • Negotiate with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering/Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Eligible or have obtained one of the following designations: P. Eng., EIT, C.E.T. / C.Tech (not a requirement but an asset)
  • Ability to read blueprints, structural drawings and plan sets 
  • Working knowledge of commercial and infrastructure construction
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge or proficiency in AutoCAD (not required but an asset)
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
  • Excellent customer service
  • An understanding of construction documents and the ability to assess the level of completeness
  • Knowledge of construction costs and budgets, ability to develop a project schedule
  • Strong knowledge of precast materials, processes and equipment
  • Fluent in English
