The position assumes responsibilities for engineering drawing review, quantity takeoffs, design, scheduling, reporting and cost estimates / quotes and project management of various pre-cast concrete projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing quotes / shop drawings to customers in a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties:
• Estimate small to large construction projects
• Produce timely, accurate hard bid estimates from sub solicitation to final proposal submitted to owner
• Ability to communicate with project team, subtrades, consultants and owner; understand the issues and be an active participant in the preconstruction process
• Prepare conceptual bids on minimal information
• Performs quantity take-offs for all areas of the estimate while ensuring the take-off is well notated for hand-over to the project team
• Prepares conceptual estimates by interpreting historical data
• Pricing of Change Orders – as required
• Develop schematics, working drawings as required
• Strong understanding of reading/interpreting blueprints
• Comfortable undertaking large projects
• Establish and maintain tendering process

Position Requirements: 
• Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience with 3-5 years’ experience
• Eligible or have obtained one of the following designations: P. Eng., EIT, C.E.T. / C.Tech (not a requirement but an asset)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam Revu, Adobe and AutoCAD
• Ability to work under pressure in a time driven atmosphere
• Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
• Flexible, able to deal with change
• Excellent customer service
• Demonstrate integrity and strives for excellence in the quality of work
• Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, strong math skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• An understanding of construction documents and the ability to assess the level of completeness
• Knowledge of construction costs and budgets, ability to develop a project schedule
• Strong team player with the ability to work well in a team environment while maintaining a positive outlook and attitude
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced environment
• Strong technical skills related to CAD standards
• Project Manager skills an asset
• Class 5 Drivers License
